Could Silver Earrings Replace Diamonds As A "Girl's Best Friend?"

If you've been looking for a perfect accessory for that new outfit, or perhaps you just want to reward yourself for getting through a tough week, then jewelry is one of the best ways to do this. Unlike flowers, a set of silver earrings won't wilt and die, and unlike chocolate, you won't find yourself suddenly having tighter clothes. And because they look good, you won't feel guilty afterward either.though you do need to clean them every so often to keep them looking their best.
But aren't we always told that diamonds and not silver, are a girl's best friend? That's the catch phrase that jewelers all around the world like to use and to be sure, diamonds are excellent if a "big splash" is needed (like a marriage proposal), but if you want to look good without having to remortgage your house to do so, silver earrings can be the way to go. Why? Well, of course there is cost. While you don't want costume jewelry, a good pair is significantly less than diamonds or gold. If you do want a customized experience, the price will most likely be higher than if you just went into your local jewelry store (and by that I mean a real jewelry store, not Wal-Mart).
Another thing to realize with silver earrings (or indeed any silver jewelry) is that it is a metal that like to be worn. Unless you keep it in sealed box or bag, over time it will tarnish and lose its luster. The last thing you want is to have it just sitting on your night stand. Put them on, wear them as they will last longer if you do. And by properly storing them, you will also be able to find them if you're in a rush, which, seems to happen more and more frequently these days.
Finally, remember that silver earrings are easy to care for and are quite tarnish resistant, when compared to gold. You will have to spend some time polishing them, but they are a fairly low maintenance type of jewelry, which is great if you just want to put them in and go, without really worrying about them or your current outfit. And for a busy woman on the go, this alone can make them the first choice when you're looking for something to set off that otherwise perfect ensemble.
