Riding Winnie Dec 3rd, 2008
Me riding Winnie Bear! I love this pony so, so, so much. I rode and showed her for 4 years then I got to big to show her. Now I show/ride Opal. But I still ride Winnie for fun. My saddle is too big for her so I just use one that fits her but I put my stirrups on it. This is a 12" saddle! So obviously I don't fit it very well. I just ride Winnie for fun. She's mostly used for lead line lessons and some lounge lessons. She doesn't get to jump much or do other fun things like that. So that's where I come in! She's really strong. The whole ride I was using half halts. As you can see the first time we came through the poles she was extending the trot which I did not ask for but I didn't really care. Then she started cantering and I got her to come down to a trot for the second pole. Her flying changes are effortless as you can see after the second time over the poles. This pony may look sweet and easy to ride but she isn't. My worst falls have been on her. First time she took off bucking/galloping across the ring and then spun around and flung me off her back. Second time she kept bucking during my lesson and then charged the fence did a sliding stop and bucked me off. Those both happened when I was 12-13.
So you can critique all you want but I won't listen. I just want to hear your thoughts on Winnie and her gaits. Oh and guess her age will you. I'll respond in a comment and tell you if you're right or wrong.
